Farewell P1

The perfect class to start the day. I have a great respect for Period One because they are always the first to have to figure out my new lessons and activities. Once I go through it with Period One, I always have some great examples of work to show other periods.

I really feel bad for a lot of the kids in this class because they always seem to have car trouble. It seems that at least five cars break down on the way to school each morning.

At least five more students will be late because they are running on Malaysian Standard Time.

I am not a morning person, but I requested to teach first period next semester because I've always had great luck with P1.

UPDATE: I just looked at the enlarged photo and I must say that Yu Tiong is not in my good books right now. Although, we did do a lesson on non-verbal communication and he may just be trying to refresh everyone's memory before the final exam.

Good luck tomorrow,
Mr. St.G

Scenes from Mad About Canada

Just another night at the museum.

I swear I saw something down there.

Ahhhhhhhh!

Sure he stole my keys, but that doesn't mean we can't dance. Moments before the infamous booty shake.

Thanks to Szujane for sending the pics:)

Mad About Canada

A photo of Jia and I just before Mad About Canada.

After my guest appearance in the show, the students called some of the lecturers out to sing or dance. My apologies to anyone who witnessed my Numa Numa dance. I have less rhythm than Al Gore. I'm sure some of the photos of that moment will appear on the internet. I'll try and track one down and post it.

Congratulations to all of the students involved. It was a great time for me.

What am I Doing This Weekend?

I've been living near the Summit Mall for nearly a year now and have never bothered to visit. One of my students just informed me that there is a Subway at Summit.

Weekend plans:

Saturday lunch: BMT
Saturday dinner: Meatball
Sunday lunch: Pizza
Sunday dinner: Cold Cut

That is all.

Bye

Rosebanker 4 Life

The greatest trip ever. Our class took a graduation trip to Washington D.C. I'm not in this picture because I was with Colin and Ryan looking for the latest N.W.A. tape.

This is a photo of the grade 8 prom. One day while I was eating glue at the back of the room I realized that there were a lot of hot girls in our class. At that moment I said, "Here Logan, you can have the rest of my glue."

Take a guess which girl was my prom date. I'll never forget the summer before high school. Some nights, I'd ride my bike home at 2 or 3 in the morning.

This is a really cool photo of Ryan at the height of the 90210 craze. He never jumped on the Chicago Bulls/L.A. Raiders bandwagon.

I'm pretty sure I met Colin before kindergarten, which makes him my oldest friend. A long time ago a good Friday night started with a game of "Dark Tag" as a warm-up followed by a round of "Fence Hopping".

Fence hopping was a very simple game. We would simply run through backyards and try not to get caught.

Mr. Ingles aka Hugh/The Hugh/The Hubert

I always loved Picture Day. It was a chance to dress up in my best clothes. Every year I had trouble deciding between wearing a tie or a bow tie. In grade two I went with the tie.

I can remember this day, but I never knew a photo exisited. This was my first day at Rosebank Rd. Public School. I have been identified in this photo, but I'm not sure which kid I am. I think about 15-20 minutes after this photo was taken I was crying for my mommy.

Singapore

Note to Self: When visiting Singapore next time, get a hotel as far away from Orchard Rd as possible.

It turns out that the Hilton was the cheapest option in the Orchard Rd. area. I've never paid so much for a hotel in my life. However, the location couldn't have been better.

Before my night out I figured I might as well do something touristy. This is a small statue of a lion. Hip-hop hooray!!!

This is the big lion. I thought it would be much bigger.

This is me on a bridge in an unknown location.

Here I am somewhere in Singapore. I'm not the biggest fan of my appearance in this picture.

I had Tuesday and Wednesday off this week so I decided to take a short trip to Singapore. I believe Singapore is the most expensive place I've ever been in my life. I'm lucky I was only there for two days. I haven't seen a Subway Sandwich in Malaysia, so I had Subway for lunch and dinner both days:).

After spending so much on a room at the Hilton, I didn't end up getting back until about 4:15 am. In hindsight, I should have just punked it out on a park bench.

I estimate that if I had been busted for all of the infractions I committed I would have been fined $10,000 and received 3 canings.

New Board

I went to the Sunway Pyramid today and bought a new complete. A complete here costs exactly the same as it does in Canada. After I bought it I took a taxi directly to Shah Alam Skatepark. Honestly, it's the best park I've ever seen. I've never been great at skating parks, but I had fun.

I skated in the mini pool the whole time. If I managed to do two tricks in a row, I'd stop because I was out of breath. It was a very hot day and I was sweating a heck of a lot. On my way home I smelled like my old hockey bag.

Stoked!

I'm going skating this weekend. Check this out. I always wondered why there were so many skate shops near my house. Don't worry mom, I won't try anything dangerous.

This place looks awesome! I'll post some raw hammer pics on Monday.

Chairman Hawks

BEFORE

AFTER

After you've lived in a foreign country for so long, it may be hard to go back home. This photo speaks for itself. It seems that his reeducation has been a success. Just look at that thousand-yard stare.

F1 Pics

I almost missed the start of the race because I was waiting in line to buy some drinks.

Possibly the winner. The only way I could tell the two Mercedes drivers apart was by their helmets and positions in the race. I forget now.

It would have been cool if I knew who these guys were.

Loser!

Greatest Easter Ever!

My buddy Aziz called me up on Saturday night. He had an extra ticket for the Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix. The only condition was that I had to go to La Vita that night.

Later that night:

Aziz: I have good news and bad news. Which do you want first?
Dave: Bad news.
Aziz: You have to sit alone at the Grand Prix.
Dave: That's not so bad. What's the good news?
Aziz: Your ticket is worth RM 1,700 ($565 CDN). The rest of us will be sitting in the RM 500 ($166 CDN) seats.
Dave: OMG!
Aziz: Your seat actually comes with three free meals.
Dave: High five!

I am officially a Formula One fan now. The seats were awesome. I was four rows back and pretty close to the start/finish line. I have lots of pictures and a video of the start of the race. I just forgot to upload them.

Family

Wheel of Fortune, March Madness, or the Leafs?
Wine? What's up with that dude?

To anyone reading this from Canada, I should be home around June 18th. I'm planning a short golf trip to Cuba, but other than that you can find me at Tre Monkeys every night.

Peace

Mos Eisley Cantina

Obi Wan Kenobi once said, "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany!" I think he must have been talking about the cafe across the street from my hotel. I really can't go into much detail, but imagine yourself in the Mos Eisley Cantina and you can get a pretty good idea.

I'd still rather be here than sitting at home.
